EAFFL Game Day Standard

Our Commitment

EAFFL is built on respect for the game, for officials, and for each other. Whether you're new to football or have years of experience, every player deserves a positive, competitive, and welcoming environment.

To support this, officials will evaluate overall team conduct after each regular-season game using the EAFFL Game Day Standard Scale.

This is not about perfection — it’s about accountability and leadership.

Team Captain Responsibility

Each team must designate a Team Captain prior to the season.

The Team Captain is the primary liaison between the team and the officials. Only the captain may respectfully approach officials for clarification on rules or calls.

Captains are expected to:

  • Communicate calmly and professionally
  • Help de-escalate emotional situations
  • Maintain control of their teammates and sideline
  • Model the standard of behavior expected in EAFFL

A captain’s ability to lead directly impacts their team’s Game Day Standard score.

Officials are not required to engage with players who are not designated captains.

EAFFL Game Day Standard Scale (1–5)

After each game, teams will receive a score from 1 to 5 based on overall conduct.

5 – League Standard

  • Full cooperation with officials and opponents
  • Respectful communication throughout the game
  • Captain demonstrates clear leadership and control
  • No warnings issued

This represents the EAFFL standard.

4 – Strong Standing

  • Minor disagreement handled respectfully
  • One warning issued
  • Captain maintains control of team and sideline

Team remains in good standing.

3 – Correction Needed

  • Repeated verbal dissent
  • Multiple warnings issued
  • Captain shows limited control of sideline
  • One ejection automatically limits score to no higher than 3

Improvement required.

2 – Below Standard

  • Persistent complaints from field or sideline
  • Poor sideline management
  • Captain unable to effectively manage team behavior
  • More than one ejection (up to three)

Team is at serious risk of playoff ineligibility.

1 – Unacceptable Conduct

  • Complete lack of cooperation with officials
  • Game forfeiture due to misconduct
  • More than three ejections

Automatic loss of playoff eligibility.

Playoff Eligibility Requirement

To qualify for playoffs, teams must:

  • Maintain a season average Game Day Standard score of 3.5 or higher
  • Accumulate no more than three (3) total ejections during regular-season play

Teams who fail to meet these standards will not be eligible for postseason participation, regardless of standings.
